Cute little friend we made before heading to The Eco Design Fair. |
We got lost while searching for the Eco Design Fair at The Cool Docks as our cab driver alight us too far away from our destination. But after wandering around we found the fair. You can't miss it as there were rows of white tents at the fair. Being it our first year living in Shanghai, exploring art exhibitions, fairs and bazaars are the highlight of our weekends.
The Eco Design Fair is an community event that showcase sustainable innovation and designs in Shanghai. Used to happen twice a year, I found out from the organiser that it will be an annual fair from now on. There were many stalls at the Eco Design Fair, but what caught our eyes were a few interesting shops promoting handmade fashion accessories, eco lamps and clocks made out of old Chinese tin cans, bamboo bicycle and an organic farm that was selling bagful of organic veges for only 10YUAN!!
All these for only 10yuan! 3 different leafy veges, a bag of carrots and potatoes. |
After checking out the eco fair, we walked around the streets outside The Cool Docks. It's along the South of Bund. Also known as 老码头 广场, it's a hip and happening place with watering holes and dinning establishments. We stumbled upon a cool hotel along the wharf, The Waterhouse at South Bund. Set in an abandon warehouse along the South Bund, the hotel reminded us of New York Hudson Hotel.
Although it's lobby was bare and industrialized styled, expensive artworks and furniture decked the lobby and bar.
We had a fun and fulfilling weekend. Hope you had a great time too.
